• Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Location: Napa, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480-$2,610
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, based on department needs
• Call: Potential call assignment depending on patient census
• Float: May float to postpartum and other designated units as needed
• Orientation: 40 hours
• Scrub Color: Royal blue
• Time-Off Requests: Requests should be submitted up front; requests exceeding 7 days may require additional review

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse license or compact license in hand at submission
• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NRP certification
• AWHONN Intermediate certification; AWHONN Advanced certification is preferred as applicable
• Recent Epic electronic health record charting experience
• Demonstrated competency with sterile vaginal examinations, a required skill for this assignment
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the past 3 years
• Flexibility to support weekend, holiday, call, and floating needs

Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.
• Perform maternal and newborn assessments, triage obstetric patients, and recognize changes in maternal or fetal condition.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, Cesarean sections, recovery of Cesarean patients, and related procedures.
• Monitor fetal heart patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring when indicated.
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, terbutaline, blood products, and pain-management therapies.
• Provide care for patients experiencing pregnancy-induced hypertension, postpartum hemorrhage, abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and other obstetric complications.
• Complete sterile vaginal examinations, Foley catheter management, IV initiation and maintenance, epidural support, and infusion monitoring.
• Support newborn transition and care, including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, thermoregulation, identification and security banding, metabolic screening, hypoglycemia monitoring, phototherapy, and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Educate patients and families on breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, newborn care, discharge needs, and circumcision care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic while collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team.
