Oncology RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience; oncology nursing experience is strongly preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN, ASN, AAS, or AAN) required
• Current Montana Registered Nurse license
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential preferred
• Outpatient oncology or outpatient clinic experience preferred
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including repeated standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Travel nurses must reside at least 90 miles from the assignment location to be eligible

Oncology Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess oncology patients and collect comprehensive data related to health status and presenting concerns
• Analyze assessment findings and identify patient diagnoses, needs, and care priorities
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care
• Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based oncology nursing care
• Educate patients and families regarding cancer treatment plans, symptom management, medications, and health maintenance
• Collaborate with patients, families, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and a supportive oncology care environment
• Document patient care accurately and complete required education, training, and clinical competencies
• Apply current nursing standards, ethical principles, regulations, and research findings to clinical practice
• Contribute to professional development and support the growth of peers and colleagues
