Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480-$2,610
• Location: Eureka, California
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Assignment Length: Approximately 26 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Schedule: Four shifts per week; weekend coverage may be required to meet staffing needs
• Unit: Labor & Delivery
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, and adults
• Average Daily Census: 15-20 patients
• Unit Capacity: 11 rooms and 15 beds
• Orientation: 40 hours

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery, obstetric, or high-risk OB nursing experience
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand when applicable
• Current BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
• Postpartum and newborn care experience preferred
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring, labor assessment, vaginal delivery, cesarean section circulation, and high-risk obstetric care
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Strong communication, patient assessment, prioritization, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and escalate concerns promptly
• Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, high-risk deliveries, and newborn stabilization
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, anticoagulation therapies, insulin drips, and seizure precautions
• Perform or assist with triage, sterile vaginal examinations, epidural care, amnioinfusion, fetal monitoring, and intrauterine pressure catheter management
• Provide postpartum, mother-baby, and newborn care, including assessments, feeding and lactation support, hypoglycemia management, thermoregulation, cord care, and discharge education
• Support hemorrhage management, pregnancy-induced hypertension care, and other obstetric emergencies
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other care partners
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, respectful communication, and culturally responsive care
