OR Technician / Surgical Technologist – General & GYN Scrub Travel Job in Birmingham, Alabama
Join a skilled perioperative team as an experienced OR Technician, Surgical Technologist, or Certified Scrub Technician supporting general and gynecologic surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. Travel Healthcare Job Details
- Location: Birmingham, Alabama
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,010-$1,090
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel assignment
- Start Date: October 20, 2026
- Assignment End Date: January 19, 2027
- Schedule: 12 Hour Days; day shifts, 6:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m., approximately 36 hours per week
- Call: Approximately one call shift per week and one weekend call assignment every six weeks
- Work Setting: On-site operating room and perioperative department
OR Technician and Surgical Technologist Requirements
- At least 3 years of operating room experience, including general surgery and gynecologic procedures
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Scrub Technician credential
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- All required certifications must be active and in hand at the time of submission
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, infection prevention, and operating room procedures
- Ability to work day shifts and participate in the required call rotation
Operating Room Technician Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for general and gynecologic surgical procedures
- Set up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment according to procedure requirements
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases and follow infection prevention standards
- Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to surgeons and other members of the surgical team
- Assist with surgical counts, specimen handling, room turnover, and post-procedure cleanup
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond effectively during procedures
- Participate in scheduled call coverage, including occasional weekend call
