Job Details
- Position: Travel PCU Registered Nurse
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step-Down Unit
- Location: Olathe, Kansas, Kansas City metro
- Employment Type: Travel RN
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Shifts Per Week: 3
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 10/11/2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to ICU and other inpatient units as needed
- Orientation: Includes unit and system training, with Epic training provided
Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Critical Care, ICU, or Emergency Department RN experience
- Active Kansas RN license or compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certification
- Strong critical thinking skills and comfort caring for higher-acuity progressive care patients
- Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing labs
- Ability to work independently without a vascular access team and assist with consults and codes as needed
- Open-heart day 2 or day 3 experience with pacer wires preferred
- Prior float experience in hospital nursing preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to Progressive Care Unit patients with ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
- Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition with confidence and efficiency
- Manage patients requiring BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and other PCU-level interventions
- Draw labs and support coordinated care without relying on a vascular access team
- Call consults and participate in codes as appropriate
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units based on patient care needs
- Deliver compassionate, team-oriented care while maintaining strong clinical standards
