PCU Registered Nurse – Travel Nursing Job in Lenexa, Kansas
Join a Progressive Care Unit in the Lenexa, Kansas area as a PCU Registered Nurse and provide high-quality care for cardiac and pulmonary patients in a supportive, collaborative environment. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers 12-hour night shifts, 36 guaranteed hours per week, and easy access to Kansas City, shopping, dining, and nearby parks.
Job Details
- Position: PCU Registered Nurse
- Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step-Down Unit
- Location: Lenexa, Kansas area
- Travel Nursing Assignment: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 12/14/2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed hours
- Schedule: Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- On-Call: None
- Unit Size: 18 beds
Job Requirements
- Active RN license
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, telemetry, or step-down nursing experience preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
- Experience caring for cardiac and pulmonary patients in a monitored setting
- Ability to work night shifts and participate in self-scheduling
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled bedside nursing care to patients with moderate physiologic instability
- Monitor and manage patients with COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy needs
- Perform cardiac monitoring and respiratory monitoring every 2-4 hours as indicated
- Complete vital signs, blood glucose checks, and neurological assessments on schedule
- Administer oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow or low-flow support as appropriate
- Collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary care team to deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold unit standards, protocols, and best practices
