Pathologists’ Assistant Job – Hospital Travel Assignment in Patchogue, NY

- Duration: 4 weeks
- Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
- Shifts Per Week: 5
- Schedule: Primarily 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, with occasional 10:00 AM-6:00 PM shifts
- Hours Per Week: 40
- Orientation: 8 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,240-$3,470
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree required
- At least 2 years of hospital clinical laboratory experience
- Experience in surgical pathology required
- ASCP or ASCP-PA certification preferred
- Experience with EPIC preferred; documentation system experience required
- Strong skills in gross examination, specimen handling, and histological processing
- Comfort reviewing scans, X-rays, and laboratory results to support clinical decision-making
- Ability to meet New York compliance requirements for assignment onboarding
Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination and dissection of small biopsies and large or complex surgical pathology specimens
- Prepare detailed macroscopic descriptions of gross anatomic features
- Section surgical pathology specimens and prepare tissue for histological processing
- Receive, identify, accession, and label specimens accurately
- Capture and analyze gross and microscopic photographs as needed
- Review relevant patient clinical information, including imaging and lab data
- Support the pathology team with careful, detail-oriented specimen processing in a hospital setting
