Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license
- Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg, acute care, or related inpatient nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Comfortable caring for patients with wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures
- Ability to support patients who may require dialysis or PCA pumps
- Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Experience with electronic health records and electronic documentation systems is preferred
Med Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate bedside nursing care for a diverse Med/Surg patient population
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring throughout the shift
- Manage post-op care for procedures such as amputations, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
- Support patients requiring wound care, tracheostomy care, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Administer medications accurately, including controlled substances, while following 100% medication scanning practices
- Maintain infection prevention, fall prevention, and patient safety standards throughout the shift
- Complete bedside shift report and frequent safety checks to promote an excellent patient experience
- Collaborate closely with the care team to support smooth unit flow and positive patient outcomes
- Float as needed to support core staff and patient care needs
