Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical
• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Assignment End Date: February 1, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360-$2,480
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts within a four-week period
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care medical-surgical units
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Floating: May float to other medical units based on staffing needs
• Charting: Epic electronic health record
• Orientation: Hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
• Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

Travel RN Job Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care setting
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 450 or more beds
• Current Indiana Registered Nurse license or compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to adapt to a floating assignment and care for a varied adult patient population

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with complex and varied diagnoses.
• Care for patients with conditions such as COPD, diabetes, congestive heart failure, end-stage renal disease, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and behavioral health concerns.
• Manage patients experiencing gastrointestinal conditions, infections, chronic illnesses, and post-procedural needs.
• Perform patient assessments, develop and update care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, feeding pumps and tubes, wound vacuums, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, heparin and insulin infusions, and blood glucose testing.
• Support patients before and after procedures such as colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, minor surgery, incision and drainage, biopsies, and amputations.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, ancillary staff, patients, and families.
• Document accurately in Epic and use unit equipment and medication-dispensing systems safely.
• Float to other medical units as needed while maintaining safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.
