Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• Current, valid Physical Therapist license in the applicable state of practice
• Minimum of 2 years of Physical Therapist experience, preferably in an acute care, long-term acute care, or inpatient rehabilitation setting
• Current BLS certification required before the first shift
• Ability to provide physical therapy services in accordance with applicable state practice standards, professional codes of conduct, and regulatory requirements
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, organization, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Commitment to patient safety, employee safety, confidentiality, and professional accountability

Physical Therapist Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and use clinical reasoning to establish individualized treatment plans, measurable goals, and functional outcomes.
• Provide physical therapy interventions designed to improve mobility, function, independence, and progress toward safe discharge.
• Modify treatment plans as patient needs and clinical conditions change.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to identify and address barriers to discharge.
• Coordinate equipment trials and recommendations, patient and family education, home exercise programs, and plans for continuing therapy services.
• Manage individual, concurrent, and group therapy sessions based on patient care needs.
• Maintain clear, accurate, timely documentation, including daily notes, goals, functional assessments, medical necessity documentation, discharge records, and charge entry.
• Ensure care is delivered under valid physician orders and in accordance with applicable authorization and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in student education and supervision when assigned.
• Engage in continuing education, professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and patient advocacy activities.
• Promote safe patient handling, infection prevention, fall prevention, and a safe work environment.
