Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• Doctorate or degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
• At least 2 years of outpatient physical therapy clinical experience
• Active physical therapist license in the state where services are provided
• Current CPR certification
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, documentation, and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary care team
• New graduates are not eligible for this travel physical therapist assignment

Outpatient Physical Therapist Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and identify patient functional limitations
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized outpatient treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and physician direction
• Establish measurable goals focused on functional improvement, mobility, and progression toward discharge
• Provide physical therapy services and direct patient care in accordance with applicable orders, regulations, and practice standards
• Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress, goals, functional outcomes, medical necessity, and charges accurately and promptly
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, home exercise programs, safety, and strategies for returning to community activities
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, safe equipment use, and awareness of workplace hazards
• Participate in student education and provide appropriate supervision when assigned
• Maintain professional licensure, complete required continuing education, and follow applicable physical therapy practice standards
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support a collaborative, patient-centered outpatient care environment
