Travel Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) – Hospital Contract in Oakland, CA

Join a collaborative hospital nutrition services team as a Registered Dietitian supporting adult and geriatric patients in Oakland, California. In this on-site travel dietitian role, you will provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and individualized care planning across a diverse inpatient and outpatient population. Travel Dietitian Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770-$1,900
• Location: Oakland, California
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital; on-site
• Schedule: Five 8-hour day shifts per week
• Shift Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Orientation: 16 hours

Registered Dietitian Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent, relevant hospital dietitian experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field; equivalent education or experience may be considered
• Current Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification
• Current BLS certification
• Experience using electronic health records; Epic experience required
• Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment, therapeutic diets, enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, diabetes management, and nutrition-focused physical examination
• Excellent communication, clinical documentation, organization, and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while prioritizing multiple clinical assignments

Hospital Dietitian Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy to adult and geriatric patients
• Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments, reassessments, and nutrition-focused physical examinations
• Interpret clinical and laboratory data to determine nutritional needs and develop individualized nutrition care plans
• Monitor patient progress and modify nutrition interventions as clinically indicated
• Provide diabetes self-management education for patients with diabetes, prediabetes, and diabetes-related conditions
• Recommend and monitor therapeutic diets, oral nutrition strategies, enteral feedings, and total parenteral nutrition when appropriate
• Educate patients and families clearly and professionally to support understanding, confidence, and adherence to nutrition plans
• Document assessments, interventions, education, and follow-up care accurately in the Epic electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Complete assigned clinical and administrative tasks within established departmental time frames
• Maintain patient privacy, follow applicable policies and regulations, and support a clean and safe working environment
