Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,470-$1,550
• Location: Harvey, Illinois, in the South Suburbs of Chicago
• Assignment: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 6:45 a.m.-7:15 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
• Charting System: Epic
• Additional Scheduling Information: Floating is required. Block scheduling is not available. Time-off requests are limited to a maximum of 3 days and may not be scheduled during the first or final week of the assignment.

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Previous Epic charting experience preferred
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients in a busy medical-surgical environment
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Comfort with floating to support unit needs

Travel Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications, blood products, oxygen therapy, and other prescribed treatments safely
• Care for patients with complex medical and surgical diagnoses, including renal failure, CVA, bowel obstruction, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and substance withdrawal
• Perform and manage peripheral IVs, PICC lines, central line blood draws, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Provide tracheostomy care and management, with respiratory therapy support available as needed
• Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias
• Support pre- and post-operative care, including patients recovering from thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, angiograms, hemodialysis, and orthopedic procedures
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Participate in emergency response activities and promote a safe, respectful, patient-centered care environment
