Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
• Location: Eureka, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480-$2,610
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: April 19, 2027
• Duration: 26-week travel nursing contract
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours each, 6:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.
• Shifts per Week: 4
• Unit: Labor & Delivery with postpartum and newborn care
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, and adults, including high-risk obstetric patients
• Unit Capacity: 11 rooms and 15 beds; average daily census of 15-20 patients
• Scheduling: Weekend shifts may be required to meet staffing needs
• Floating: May be required within the nurse’s scope of practice, including nearby affiliated facilities
• Orientation: 40 hours

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in California; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Postpartum and newborn care experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• AWHONN Intermediate certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Experience using Epic electronic medical records
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to care for a culturally diverse patient population
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and float as needed to support patient care
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years during the compliance process

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods
• Care for high-risk antepartum and obstetric patients, including those experiencing pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, shock, or other complications
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and related assessments
• Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and changes in maternal condition
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, cervical procedures, and other obstetric interventions
• Circulate for cesarean sections and recover patients following surgical delivery
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, anticoagulants, insulin infusions, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and blood products
• Provide immediate newborn assessment and care, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, cord care, identification procedures, metabolic screening, and hypoglycemia management
• Support couplet care, breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, and newborn care education for parents
• Perform triage of obstetric patients, sterile vaginal examinations, IV starts, Foley catheter management, wound assessment, and pain assessment and management
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the care team
• Float within the nurse’s scope of practice and adapt to changing unit and patient-care needs
