ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- End Date: January 25, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000-$2,110
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Orientation: 12 hours
- Unit Census and Capacity: Approximately 10 patients daily; 20-bed ICU
- Float Expectations: May include floating to nearby affiliated facilities when needed
ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license applicable to California; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent ICU, critical care, or intensive care nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing complex critical care conditions
- Experience with cardiovascular, medical, neuro, and surgical intensive care patients
- Proficiency with or willingness to learn Epic electronic medical records; Epic experience preferred
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and designated holidays as scheduled
- Two professional references covering at least one year of recent experience within the past three years
ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Monitor and manage patients experiencing sepsis, respiratory failure, renal disease, trauma, subdural hematoma, and other complex conditions
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and support advanced therapies such as CRRT, EVD monitoring, hypothermia protocols, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Assist with chest tube insertion and removal and provide care for patients recovering from neurosurgical and cardiothoracic procedures
- Support patients requiring CABG recovery, intra-aortic balloon pump management, and Impella therapy
- Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other support services
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, follow infection prevention standards, and use appropriate isolation precautions and PPE
- Promote safe, compassionate, and evidence-based critical care throughout the assignment
