• Setting: On-site laboratory animal care and research support

• Duration: 22 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 8 hours
• Hours Per Week: 40
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $910 – $970

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of animal handling or laboratory animal sanitation equipment experience required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of training equivalent to Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly and maintain accurate, legible records
• Basic computer and email skills, including barcode scanning and electronic reporting
• Knowledge of animal care, feeding, caging, sanitation, and infection control practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a laboratory environment
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, and move on hard surfaces for extended periods
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to follow facility policies and safety procedures, including PPE requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for laboratory animals in accordance with established procedures and regulations
• Change cages and racks, deliver food and water, and maintain animal housing areas
• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect animal care spaces and equipment
• Operate cage washers, autoclaves, and related sanitation equipment
• Maintain detailed records such as animal health logs, feed logs, temperature and humidity charts, and animal receipt/disposition records
• Monitor animal health, identify concerns, and report issues promptly to the appropriate staff
• Support technical procedures and assist with operational needs as assigned
• Help ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable standards
