Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment in Eureka, California
Travel Labor & Delivery RN job in Eureka, CA 95501: join a compassionate obstetrics team providing high-acuity maternal, postpartum, and newborn care in Northern California. Eureka is a coastal city on Humboldt Bay, with a historic Old Town and proximity to Northern California redwood scenery. Job Details
- Setting: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn Care
- Location: Eureka, CA 95501
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480 – $2,610 per week
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours each
- Hours per Week: 36
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nurse
- Charting System: Epic experience required
- Weekend Coverage: Required as needed to meet staffing needs
- Float: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Patient Census: Approximately 15-20 daily
Job Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license required; compact license must be in hand at submission
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Experience with high-risk obstetrics preferred
- Previous postpartum nursing experience preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications required
- Strong Epic charting experience required
- Ability to care for a culturally diverse patient population
- Comfortable with cesarean section circulation and obstetric emergencies
- Reliable, adaptable, and willing to float within scope as needed
- Must be available to work 3 of the 5 major holidays as scheduled
- References required during compliance process and prior to start
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate care for laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients
- Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and recovery care in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using standard obstetric assessment tools
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Perform newborn assessments, thermoregulation support, and breastfeeding education
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote excellent patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Follow unit protocols for safety, infection prevention, and patient-centered care
- Adapt to staffing needs while maintaining a professional, team-oriented approach
