Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Setting: Children’s hospital / acute care pediatric environment
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908
• Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts
• Hours: 36 hours per week, with the option for 48 hours per week
• Estimated Shifts Per Week: Approximately 3 shifts per week, with additional hours available
• Contract Length: 13 or 26 weeks
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday; must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling model with team coordination
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810 – $1,940

Registered Respiratory Therapist Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Current RRT certification required
• BLS and NRP required
• Virginia state license required; pending license accepted if temporary license can be obtained before start
• Experience in Level IV NICU care required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• ACCS preferred
• Must be comfortable working in NICU, PICU, high-risk delivery, and pediatric acute care settings
• Competency with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A required
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Respiratory Therapy Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across multiple pediatric units
• Support care in NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics
• Perform and assist with advanced respiratory interventions, including intubation support, ABG interpretation, and ventilation management
• Operate specialized equipment such as the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Deliver treatments and therapies including CPAP, HFNC, trach care, suctioning, aerosol therapy, and ventilator management
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the pediatric care team
• Respond to neonatal transports and assist in high-risk delivery situations as needed
• Contribute to a safe, efficient, and patient-focused care environment
