Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Assignment in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Details

- Location: Kansas City, Missouri (64130)
- Start Date: 12/14/2026
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Shifts per Week: Approximately 3 shifts
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680 – $1,770
- Schedule: Coverage needed seven days a week, including weekends
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience preferred
- BLS certification required
- CPI certification required
- Strong assessment skills for mental health, substance use, and behavioral concerns
- Ability to use therapeutic communication, active listening, and empathy with patients in crisis
- Comfort with electronic documentation; Meditech experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mental health status, behavior, and overall condition
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with behavioral health needs
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation support, and short-term stabilization when needed
- Monitor vital signs, mental status changes, and response to treatment
- Support safe, compassionate care on adolescent and adult psychiatric units
- Collaborate with the care team to promote positive patient outcomes
