- Shift Schedule: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, every other weekend
- Unit Size: 29 beds
- Charting System: MEDITECH
- Orientation: 3 days
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, including at least 1 travel assignment
- At least 2 years of specialty experience preferred for chemotherapy-related care
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS certification preferred for candidates who plan to administer chemotherapy
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible
- Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holidays with staff
Oncology Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality oncology nursing and medical-surgical care for inpatient patients
- Care for patients with acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology needs, and medical overflow diagnoses
- Support end-of-life care with professionalism, empathy, and strong clinical judgment
- Work closely with the charge nurse, nurse aides, and interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe patient outcomes
- Monitor patient conditions, assess changes in status, and respond appropriately to clinical needs
- Document accurately in MEDITECH and follow unit protocols and workflows
- Maintain flexibility in a fast-paced acute care setting and contribute to a positive team environment
- Assist with patient flow when outpatient treatment areas close and patients complete care on the unit
